Real Estate Litigation Staff Attorney - New York
A highly regarded New York law firm is seeking a Staff Attorney with at least five years of landlord-tenant litigation experience to join its busy and collaborative litigation team.
This role offers the opportunity to handle a substantial caseload of both residential and commercial matters — from routine non-payment and holdover proceedings to more complex real estate disputes in Housing and Supreme Court. The ideal candidate is a confident litigator who enjoys client interaction, courtroom advocacy, and working on lean teams where their contributions make an immediate impact.
The estimated salary range for this position is $145,000 - $180,000 (annually) and may vary depending on experience and other factors.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and litigate residential and commercial landlord-tenant cases, including non-payment, holdover, HP proceedings, and related housing disputes
• Appear regularly in Housing Court and other tribunals on behalf of firm clients
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on rent stabilization, regulatory compliance, and eviction proceedings
• Maintain strong communication with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams
Experience with corporate governance, condo lien foreclosures, or general real estate litigation is a plus, but not required.
Requirements:
• Admission to the New York Bar
• Minimum of five years of landlord-tenant litigation experience
• Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills
• Desire to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
