Job Description
Patent Agent or Technical Advisor - Ph.D. Biological Science
Our client is a major Am law 100 firm, seeking a Patent Agent or entry-level Technical Advisor, with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences for its Intellectual Property practice in Palo Alto, CA. The salary for this position is between $125k to $205k.
Qualifications
- Ph.D in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- USPTO admission or eligibility to take the USPTO exam.
- Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology required.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- All candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Additional Information
This position involves prosecution of life sciences patents, which includes conducting prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses; analyzing patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation; drafting patent applications and responses to office actions; and participating in post-grant procedures at the USPTO. The firm does cover law school tuition for patent agent candidates.
