Job Description
Patent Agent or Science Advisor - Chemistry
Our client is an Am law 100 firm, seeking a Patent Agent or Science Advisor for its Intellectual Property Transactions practice in New York, Boston, San Francisco, or Redwood City offices. The salary for this role is between $155k to $175k.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of patent drafting and prosecution of U.S. and international life science patent applications.
- Experience conducting prior art searches, assessing technologies for patentability and infringement, providing support for IP due diligence on M&A, and managing patent portfolios while guidance of senior advisors.
- Strong academic credentials with excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Advanced degree in Chemistry [Ph.D. or M.S.] or equivalent chemistry degree is preferred.
- Ability to become admitted to the USPTO is required.
- Law school tuition is available.
All candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Kate joined Marina Sirras & Associates in 2011. She is a national legal recruiter, specializing
in the placement of partners, counsel, and associates in all practice areas, including:
- Intellectual Property – lawyers and patent agents (patent prosecution, IP litigation,
trademark, and technology/life sciences transactional roles) - Corporate lawyers (funds, capital markets, M&A, securities, and finance)
- Litigation lawyers (commercial, securities, and arbitration)
Clients include major international law firms, midsized general practice firms, specialty boutique
firms, and corporations. Prior to recruiting, Kate worked as a legal assistant for several law
firms, including Pennie & Edmonds, a former intellectual property firm in New York City. She
earned a B.S. in Human Resource Management.
