Associate Attorney - Energy Regulatory (Americas)
Our client, an elite global law firm, is seeking an associate to join their Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group. This is a hybrid position that can be based in the firm’s Houston or Washington, DC office.
The estimated salary range for this position is $365,000 - 435,000 (annually) and may vary depending on experience and other factors.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant law firm or in-house experience; transactional experience required
- Experience advising clients on federal energy regulatory compliance, including FERC, NERC, RTOs/ISOs, and state regulatory bodies
- Proven track record representing clients in administrative proceedings and regulatory disputes
- Strong background in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, such as: Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs); Interconnection Agreements (IAs); Transportation, gathering, processing, and marketing agreements
- Experience counseling clients on power generation, transmission, and electricity market regulation
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to project development, financing, and M&A transactions
- Experience obtaining regulatory approvals and prosecuting or defending administrative litigation and enforcement actions
- Demonstrated ability to support clients in negotiating infrastructure usage and energy procurement agreements
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school, and a strong academic record
- Admitted to the Washington, D.C. or Texas bar (or the ability to become admitted) and in good standing
